Keep the plant in a cool well lit place away from direct sunlight. Flower will last longer in an air-conditioned room.
Water every fifth day, pouring till water is observed coming out from

below the pot. Every alternate watering add a fertilizer packet to the water before watering.

When the blooms have withered, cut the spike down to the level of the leaves and the plant will bloom with larger flowers and a strong stem within a year. You can also prune the stem, cut leaving two nodes (little brown lines on the stem blow the flowers). One of these nodes will then initiate and produce flowers within eight to 12 weeks.
